The tree book

I need to learn about trees, so why not share?

The first step in my process was to find a book containing the trees that might be found in my part of the world. In this case I did not find an identification guide specifically for my province, but on produced by the British Columbia Government. I also found two courses that I might investigate more closely, which would be a botanical Latin course, and a tree and shrub identification course, both of which are online and offered by my local university.

The trees that are presented in the B.C. guide are probably more extensive than the listings found only in the prairie regions, but the listed species should be relatively similar. There will be some differences because of the warmer and more humid conditions on the coast, but that should be minor.

February in my town is not a great time to begin tree identification studies, as the vast majority of foliage has dropped leaves, and gone dormant for the cold months. Still, I figure I can begin the process, and maybe work my way through some of the local evergreen varieties.
