To have a little fun with this, I would say the most important trait in a neighbor is distance. Geographical distance. Ideally a minimum of 1 kilometer (or mile) as the crow flies.
To be fair, I love people and the things we can build. In University I studied our built environment (urban design), eventually graduating with a degree in human geography. Despite this my roots will always be in the land, my heart in the wild.
