The Midas Touch

Daily writing prompt
You have three magic genie wishes, what are you asking for?

Every tale I remember about a Genie in a Bottle ends up being a cautionary tale of some sort. The moral of the story: be careful what you wish for.

As for me, I will pass on the wishes. I would rather work and strive in a world where I can believe that my efforts will be duly rewarded. I like to think that everything happens for a reason, even if I have to create the reason myself.

In Canada we have an automotive shop that is called Midas Muffler. In years past they used to advertise with the slogan “Trust the Midas Touch.” Ironically this brand is based on one of the most famous cautionary tales about wishes. King Midas and the golden touch.

I honestly want no part of a world where wishes, or genies exist. If I ever see an oil lamp during a wilderness outing I can tell you one thing. I will be out of there faster than a prairie fire with a tailwind.

Stay Wild!
