Clean Fifteen vs. Dirty Dozen?

List your top 5 grocery store items.

Have you ever been at the grocery store and noticed someone looking into your shopping cart. Did you feel judged? Worried that someone might see that gallon of ice cream, or the pop tarts you tried to hide under your token bag of lettuce?

No one is perfect, and it sucks to feel judged. Most of us know by now what a healthy diet looks like. But, as they say, it is one thing to know the path, and another to walk it.

Personally I do pretty good. I know what a healthy diet for me looks like, and I follow it pretty closely. I do treat myself of course, but I try to avoid the worst of the worst.

The unfortunate thing today is that even our best intentions can lead us astray. Its a sad state of affairs when even the foods that should healthy can cause us harm over time. It is even worse when we know this, but have to choose less healthy options anyway.

I know that my top 5 grocery store items would all come from the outer perimeter. I also try to reference tools like the clean 15 list from the EWG’s website when I make my choices.

Of course having said all this, its important to remember that much of the world is in the holiday season. It is important to take time to appreciate the holidays, and to enjoy the traditions of your family and your community. So eat, laugh and be merry!

I will see you all at the gym on January 01.

Guilty as charged! I often ask the person checking out before me, questions like ‘Oh wow which aisle did you find that?, or how do your fix it. They don’t mind it.
