If I had a million dollars…

Every time I hear that line I think of the 90’s hit by the Bare Naked Ladies. I never really cared for the song, but I have to admit that it lives rent free in my head.

Regardless of my musical tastes, the song does provide an interesting idea. Can love be bought? I think not, at least not the true love that we all hope for. To that end I would answer thus: I would give the million to the one I love. Then I would know for certain if the love was true – and by true I mean reciprocal. Would she invest in our future together? Or would she be on the first flight to Vegas?

In the dream she stays. I stop my nomadic existence, and we build a wonderful life together. Having secured our future, we then give back to our family, community, and the many amazing institutions that are doing good work in the world.

Contrary to the Bare Naked Ladies song, there is probably little or no Kraft Dinner in this romance.
