How do you unwind after a demanding day?

Here is my recipe for the elimination of stress or anxiety.

Hit the gym:

  • Stretching 5 – 10 minutes
  • 10 – 20 minutes of light cardio
  • Weight training (i focus on 3 sets 8-12 reps) one muscle group
  • Sauna/steam
  • Cold shower

Doing this is like hitting a reset button on my entire system. My stress melts away, tension is gone, and I enter a state of near euphoric peace.

I can alter some aspects. For example, I can replace the weight training with a longer session of HIIT training and achieve the same or better results. The parts that must be present are: vigorous exercise, heat (sauna/steam), and then a minimum 2 minute cold shower. This is my secret sauce.

When im physically drained the recipe is different. I would eat a few bananas, drink some water, and relax on the sofa.
