The last live performance I attended was in Bogota. I went with some new friends, who acted as my guides and interpreters. The concert was small and intimate. Two musicians from the local university were playing experimental sets. One flute, one guitar.
The music was very nice, and the setting was perfect. It was housed in a small chamber that was a part of a former presidents residence in the historic Chapinero district.
Better yet was the company. Post show we gathered at a friends house for an after party. I remember commenting on how incredible it was to be lounging around Bogota with such an interesting and wonderful assortment of people.
Of course, this was all highly unusual for me. As someone who is at home in the woods or mountains, it was quite a leap to join Bogota’s art scene. I must in all honestly give credit to my companions. While the music and setting were great, it was my new friends that made the evening memorable.
